Battle Area Community Transport (BACT) was founded in 1999 in response for the need for regular transport to include the rural areas of East Sussex and its inhabitants.
BACT provide regular bus services to rural villages, and our aim is to maintain the independence of those who have no other means of transportation,
especially the elderly, disadvantaged, and the disabled. The elderly for example can be transported
on a regular basis in wheelchair accessible vehicles to day-care centres.
We also cater for young people taking them to youth clubs and other events.
Our friendly bus services, centred on Battle, Burwash and Ticehurst, travel to the following villages: Ashburnham, Battle, Brede, Broad Oak,
Etchingham, Flimwell, Mountfield, Robertsbridge, Netherfield, Sedlescombe, Stonegate, Ticehurst and Westfield.
Our flexible services provide a wide range of pick-up/set down points to meet customer requirements for our popular trips to Ashford, Eastbourne, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Tenterden and Rye.
Using sixteen seater minibuses, we provide a valuable service for many people who would otherwise be socially excluded due to lack of public transport in rural areas.
All our drivers are MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) trained and assessed.
Please note that from April 2014 concessionary passes will not be accepted before 9.30am due to East Sussex County Council regulations.
We are currently looking for additional volunteers as bus drivers and also a Project/Events Organiser in the office.
